Since we posted our initial news in mid-October below on Bronwyn Douglass’s recent awards at that time, we’re delighted to add the following update as follows:
Mezzo-soprano Bronwyn Douglass has been announced as the recipient of the 2017 Lady Fairfax New York Scholarship, awarded by the Opera Foundation for young Australians. Her assured performance at a public recital on Sunday impressed the judges, setting her apart from the other finalists. The 28-year old singer from New South Wales will receive $43,000 to work with internationally renowned vocal, language, and movement coaches in New York.
The Society’s 2013 Award winner Bronwyn Douglass was, in September, named the winner of the 2017 Joan Sutherland and Richard Bonynge Bel Canto Award, as well as the George Solti Accademia di Bel Canto Prize, Tait Memorial Trust Prize, Mozart and Handel Prize and the Audience Choice Award.
