Date/Time
Saturday 20 Jan 2018
3:00 pm to 5:30 pm
Location
Queensland Multicultural Centre
What’s involved:
You are invited to bring along a physical item of Wagnerian memorabilia that has particular associations for you, and share these associations with the meeting. Depending on final numbers of participants, it is expected each presentation would be for no longer than six minutes. There could well be questions from the floor about your treasure and how you came by it!
Items may take any form and could be, for example, books, programmes, recordings, paintings and reproductions, sculptures, photographs, musical scores, theatre tickets, items of porcelain and glass, musical instruments with Wagnerian associations (Hans Richter’s trumpet??), Siegfried’s sword (?) or a conductor’s baton.
Something you wore to a memorable performance?
Variety will definitely be the spice of the afternoon and nothing will be too big or too small.
Musical Interludes:
Interspersed among the presentations will be brief (2-3 minutes) musical excerpts that are truly antique, drawing on the earliest known recordings of Wagner’s music in a variety of forms, including singers who had actually been chosen by the Master himself for the first performances of the Ring and Parsifal. Be prepared to be amazed!
How to register:
If you would like to take part in this fascinating afternoon in January and share your chosen item of Wagnerian memorabilia with us, please contact the secretary before 31 December via email: wagnerqld@gmail.com
