ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING AT QMC KANGAROO POINT
Saturday 30 Nov 2024 at 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Our Society’s Annual General Meeting will be held at the Queensland Multicultural Centre on Saturday 30 November, commencing at 3:00pm. The AGM is limited to members of the Wagner Society in Queensland, and voting will be restricted to financial members. A key function of the AGM is to elect a new Management Committee for 2025. The Society’s Rules provide (s.13.3) that: ‘At each general meeting of the association, the members of the management committee must retire from office, but are eligible, on nomination, for re-election’. The Management Committee (s.17.1.1) ‘has the general control and management of the administration of the affairs, property and funds of the association’ (see also The Associations Incorporation Act s.60.1) , which means that it is the 2025 Management Committee which must approve and manage the Society’s program of events and other activities for 2025.
The AGM will be followed by a Christmas celebration open to members and guests in the upstairs foyer of the QMC. There will be a ‘Wagner Table’ with Wagner memorabilia on sale. Anything you would like to sell (with the proceeds going to the Society) would be very welcome. Please bring your items marked with the price that you think they are worth. There will also be a short recital by violinist Warwick Adeney, former concert master of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, together with pianist Stephen Emmerson. Both were participants in last December’s Ring Symposia (see the Wagner in Brisbane page of this website).
The usual fee of $15 for members and $20 for guests will apply, and payment should be made to the Society’s Bank Account: Bank of Queensland, BSB 124 021, Account No. 2261 2919, with your name and ‘Nov.’ Please advise the Secretary of your payment at alphayap60@gmail.com, to assist with logistical arrangements.
The Secretary is circulating documentation for the AGM including Minutes from the last AGM, and forms for Management Committee Nominations, Notices of Motions, and Proxy delegations.
