WAGNER’S BIRTHDAY LUNCH, FOLLOWED BY “RICHARD WAGNER AND THE TEPLITZ MYSTERY” by PETER BASSETT

The annual lunch to celebrate the birthday of Richard Wagner will be held in the beautiful Heritage Room of the Story Bridge Hotel, Main Street Kangaroo Point, at 12:30 pm on Saturday 18th May. The Heritage Room can seat 50 guests (max) and is on the first floor via a lift from the side street. The price will be $70 pp for two courses – main and dessert – and the Menu is: Main Course (alternate drop) – Grilled chicken supreme on a warm kipfler, green bean and chevre salad with slow roasted tomato & chicken jus (gf). Grilled fish of the day on baby chats with steamed new season asparagus, saffron beurre-blanc & salmon pearls (gf). Dessert (alternate drop) – Story Bridge Hotel Pavlova with fresh summer berries, double cream, passionfruit glaze and fresh mint (gf). Warm apple and rhubarb crumble with vanilla bean gelato and local strawberries. Only the second dessert is not gluten-free. Pay separately for drinks at the bar set up for our use. 

Lunch will be followed by a short walk to the Queensland Multicultural Centre for a presentation at 3:00 pm by Peter Bassett of “Richard Wagner and the Teplitz Mystery”. The usual meeting charges apply: $15 for members and $20 for guests. Johanna Rosine Wagner and Ludwig Heinrich Christian Geyer (d.1821). Until he was fourteen, the composer was known as Wilhelm Richard Geyer.
